First, as his postings clearly show, he is on the list and not removed.

Second, if you have a bone to pick with me, or anyone else, do it off list. My
correspondence to Gary was private, none of it appeared here. Issues of our
personal private exchanges brought to the list were done by Gary, not by me. I
do not want, and will not tolerate, personal arguments going on here on the
list. That is a sure way to get yourself removed. Do that in private, please.

If you wish to discuss something with me, write me off list or telephone me. I
am willing to listen. I will respect your opinion, but you also need to respect
the final list policy decision.

3. All discussion on this issue being posted to this list needs to cease as of
now. Far too much has been said already. We need to move on.

4. I am not going to split hairs with anyone. When a topic is off topic, and
EBAY is one of them, it is off topic. Pure and simple. Whether Al Walller says
so, or I say so, it is off topic. Al and I understand what is off topic and I
respect his rules and he respects my decisions.

5. I have never established a rigid boundary as to what can, and what can not,
be posted on the lists I manage. Certain conduct, certain topics and certain
language has been specifically indicated as not acceptable. I cut subscribers a
lot of slack in the area of 'off topic', primarily because some topics fall
between the cracks and have no list to be addressed on. For instance, those of
you who have asked for help with an old call sign or about an antenna set up or
about a call book and so forth. Hence, as long as it is radio related, in some
way is important to the hobby at large or is generally not offensive, I let them
go. Much good information has been posted because of this that would otherwise
have been missed by all. The archives bear this out to be absolute truth.

A happy healthy productive list is an active one. Any of you subscribe to Sony,
Sangean, Zenith? Can you spell "DEAD"? All good subjects, just no activity. So
as long as things do not get too crazy, I am not going to restrict posts to only
Hallicrafters issues.

6. Every time the subject of EBAY comes up, a war zone appears. Hence, I
consider it off topic. If you want to read EBAY ads, go there and read them. If
you want to sell on EBAY go there and sell. If you want to post an EBAY ad on
qth.net lists, then use the ebay-fs at mailman.qth.net list which Al Waller set up
specifically for this purpose two years ago.

7. As much as I respect Al Waller, and that is considerable, I have a problem
with his phrases such as 'within reason' or 'not excessive'. Unfortunately,
these are arbitrary phrases and do not mean the same thing from one person to
another. What I consider as excessive is not necessarily what one of you may
consider as excessive. Therefore, I believe a more clear cut term must be
applied to prevent intentional or accidental misinterpretation of the list
rules.

I ask you: regarding EBAY ads or EBAY links for ads, what is to be considered as
acceptable? Please indicate your choice as one, two or three.

1. I do not want EBAY ads or links to be posted to the Hallicrafters list.

2. I want them to be posted, but no more than two per month per subscriber.

3. I want them to be pposted without any limits.

Because I want the results to be known as accurately and honestly totaled by me,
please do not post tthis post to the list, but send in your vote as a single
number; one, two or three. This is your opportunity to make your preference
known, so take the time to vote. What is decided will remain the lis tpolicy
until owner Al Waller decides it to be otherwise. So if you do not bother to
vote, do not bother to post your opinions or your complaints down the road. This
is your chance to make your wish known. The majority will rule. All e-mail
addresses will be validated to prevent 'ballot box stuffing'.

Thank you for your understanding, cooperation and participation.
