It really boils down to PUT UP or SHUT UP.
Small items I normally add a set price for packing, handling and 
postage. I ship heavy items based on final weight and measure.
I am in the professional packing and shipping business (NOT MBE) for 
over 20 years. Yes I charge for the packing at my standard commercial 
rates, but it gets there with no damage.
I also make up custom foam lined boxes to fit any and all radios with 
Ethafoam and 500# DW boxes for heavy items. I ship them empty to you or 
your seller for boxes and UPS charges prepaid including re-inforced 
tape, Fragile and over 70 pound tape if needed.

Cheap NO Safe YES!!
