First, I was dismayed that Gary Brown, WZ1M transported the heated discussion on
the Heathkit list concerning EBAY postings here. It should have been left where
it was. What follows is my post on the Heathkit list, it applies here also.
Greetings,
I have discussed the topic with qth.net/qsl.net owner, Alan Waller, K3TKJ. Let
me summarize, briefly.
1. The general qth.net rules do state that EBAY posts should be refrained from.
2. Regarding the quotation by Alan Waller that he had been persuaded ... Here is
his reply to me, today quoted verbatim:
"This is a part of an e-mail I wrote about 3-4 years ago, on the list
managers list. I am honored that someone thinks enough of me to save my old
scribbling.
This is basically still the rule with some modifications that were
implemented later.
1. Ebay listings are OK but not excessive, and it MUST be topical for the list.
2. List managers have the option of allowing or not allowing on their list
as they see fit.
This is the way it has been for several years. This was how I assumed you
were operating?
Al"
Please note that the list manager has the final say so one way or the other. My
decision has been, is and shall continue to be "NO".
I think it would be advantageous for everyone if Al Waller would make a
universal policy decision on this topic and apply it to all qth.net lists. His
call, alone. No list manager choice one way or the other. He is the owner, he is
the Man. his way is how it should be. Then there would be no debate every time
this subject comes up. He is the owner and he sets the policy, end of topic.
I am not taking issue with Alan Waller. I respect him and I abide by his
decisions. Whether I agree with them or not, it is not my choice to make. I am
simply suggesting a solution that will resolve the issue once and for all and
eliminate the bickering, insult slinging, side taking and other sand box
behavior.
If you have any further comments on this topic, direct them to me directly, NOT
to the list. Thank you.
