[Hallicrafters] my two cents worth

Gary -
I have not been following this discussion about Ebay and am a bit hesitant to send this email because I've been instructed by Duane not to mention it - but this sounds like an opportune time to ask a newbie question. So perhaps Duane will let this email post (Duane?). My question is this: Someone new to Hallicrafters has almost no way to estimate the fair price on a unit except to continually watch Ebay to get a feel for the "traffic". What do you suggest to newcomers for developing a sense of the worth of an old rig? I do have the Hallicrafters book - but I believe the price ranges in there are from 1997. Also, I almost never see decent Hallicrafters at local Hamfests - any suggestions? For example - I've been watching the Hallicrafters buy/sell ads for an SX-28 but none seem to show up and Ebay is still hard for me to guage on an SX-28. The same applies for an SX-100. Any feedback would be appreciated! Regards, Tim NZ7C
