Thanks Dave, I appreciate your response! Now the truth, I got a B&W 5100 and
a 5100B to take a part.
The 5100 was damaged in shipping so I 'm going get the meter repaired and
replace the dial with a new one! Then try to flatten out the panel by a
professional metal shop. But I didn't want to take a chance of destroying the
knobs. What a mess you can cause if you try forcing a metal tool where it
doesn't belong and unfortunately I had to repair such items!
The B&W 5100B is a 9+!! But the dial from age is deteriorated from age. I
plan to replace the dial and do all the maintenance to keep both transmitters
in top shape. From cleaning the switches, installing new caps and resistors,
to checking tubes along with a cleaning the sockets.
I have to tell you I love working on the old stuff. When the work is done and
it is running at top ability, and it looks as perfect as possible, it feels
better than winning the lottery!
The B&W transmitters where I think had much better audio than a Johnson
valiant(6146's), Sounded just as good as a DX-100B modified (1625's) or a
WRL Globe champion 300A (809's).
Someday I hope to own a B&W-6100 which will be hooked to an NC-303.
