I see a lot of people using 409 cleaner.
The stuff works great, but as a caution, be sure to throuroughly wash off
any possible remnants. The stuff eats Aluminum for lunch. I know from a
*very* expensive experience.
I used it on my airplane.
The gear doors are made of an aluminum sandwich that is spot welded
together. Some of the 409 got between the layers and didn't wash out, even
with prolonged use of a hose. It ate through one of the doors, requiring
it's replacement. The doors are only $450, but the two little hinges that
fasten on are also over $400, plus brackets and other assorted *stuff*, plus
labor.
