Frankly, Mouser is usually cheaper than Antique
Electronic Supply ( http://www.mouser.com ). As for
just which "flavor" of orange drop to use, I normally
use the least expensive 400 volt or 600 volt
capacitors. They work just as well as the most
expensive and cost less.
Remember that the new capacitors have a lot better
tolerance than the old ones and work much better.
The only problem that I have had replacing the old
paper type capacitors in receivers of the 1930s (and
some of the 1920s) is that you sometimes have to add a
resistor in parallel with the capacitor (around 100 K
ohms, or so) because the original capacitors had a
fair amount of "leakage" and the circuits were
designed around this parameter. Thus, when you use
the "modern" capacitor the circuit needs the
additional resistance.
However, with the SX-100 you should not run into this
problem. The paper capacitors used in the original
construction are much better in quality than those
made during the late 1920s and the 1930s.

i have been told, that orange drops are a good choice
but i have found out there are four different types
according to antique electronic supply catalog.
