[Hallicrafters] Help with parts for an SX-101 (any variant)

Hi Ed,

I am not that lucky! I thought the same thing as you, but no it needs more
inductance.

The front panel antenna trimmer is across the coil and the alignment
procedure call for the trimmer to be set at half way during alignment. By
using closing the trimmer I am almost able to get it to resonate at the
correct frequency. In face, I could just pad the tuned circuit and get away
with it, but the LC ratio would be incorrect. The three front end tuned
circuits track so perfectly on all the other bands, it would be a shame not
to get these two to be as good.

Hi Mark, et al;

Maybe the slugs are missing because it tuned the best that way. I have
seen it happen. You can test this by inserting something ferrous...nail
?) into the coil and see if it helps or hurts. If it helps, then you need
a ferrous slug. If it makes it worse, insert something brass (brazing
rod?) and if that helps, you need a brass slug. If they both hurt, it is
correct with no slug. Also some coils don't have slugs, they are broad
band or tuned some other way.
