Irving Berlin would be smiling, as it is most assuredly a White Christmas Day
here in Michigan the 'water winter wonderland'. Perhaps four to five inches
outside, and several more to follow, so say the weather prognosticators. Every
time I venture out there and stick my certified snow depth gauge instrument, my
index finger, in the snow to 'see' how deep it is, it melts and I get an
inaccurate reading. You see, I am an official Snowflake Spotter for the National
Weather Service and I am obligated when a Snow Advisory, or Winter Storm
Warning, are issued, to check the snow depth every hour and if it is greater
than one inch, report it to the NOAA station in White Lake, MI where nobody is
on Christmas Day anyhow! Unless they come up with a talking snow depth gauge so
that my index finger does not get frost bitten as it feels the snow and melts
it, they will just have to live with my flake figures! Besides, I would much
rather be wearing down my fingertip by using this "Blind Bikini Inspector" card
I got from a woman in Hawaii giving me the leegal authority to Braille all
females wearing a bikini in Hawaii. (I am serious here, I really do have such a
card! It came up missing one day, could not figure out where it had vanished to.
Turns out my grandson had borrowed it! I did not ask if he tried it out, he did
not say! Just as well I do not know!)

This beautiful snowy Christmas morn reminded me of a poem I wrote some years
back. has not a thing to do with Hallicrafters, but it is Christmas, so what the
heck. Feel free to share it with friends and family. If you reprint it, be
'sure' to list me as the author, as it is copyrighted.

The Magic Of A Christmas Snow

                                            Duane B. Fischer

Our childhood years too quickly pass,
Like sand slips through an hour glass.
The magic snow on Christmas morn,
And stories of the babe that's born.
A fragrant pine with lights aglow,
With balls and tinsel hung just so.
A snowball missile on a flight,
And carolers singing through the night.
Last minute sales on Christmas Eve,
The tired clerks wish you would leave.
A frosty snowman dressed in white,
And presents hiding in the night.
Greeting cards from friends afar,
And home made jelly in a jar.
Nine reindeer on a neighbor's house,
And Grandma sews a Christmas mouse.
The smell of turkey fills the air,
There's pumpkin pie for all to share.
The family gathers, young and old,
To listened to the stories told.
The children stare at wondrous sights,
And parents break up sibling fights.
Some how the world just seemed renewed,
Or was it just my youth that viewed?
It really was a special day,
But did it have to go away?
Adulthood comes and childhood goes,
Spring takes away the winter snows.
As years advance and youth recedes,
Our vision looks to different needs.
There is one thing for sure I know,
That winter winds will always blow
Some magic into Christmas snow.
