Three S-meters on three separate receivers  -  all with the same problem?
 Are you sure you don't have a static electricity problem?  Do you have
carpet at the workbench and what kind of footwear do you have on?  

Before you dig into those receivers break out the dish detergent and
clean the fronts of those meters.  In fact, use some Static Guard on the
back of the meter (not the front please - it is probably plastic) and see
if those meters work properly again.  I'm sure some of our other list
patrons have a few more pet anti-static treatments to suggest.
