Hi Mike,
My personal feeling is that I want the radio to work up to factory specs or
as close to them as possible. There are a lot of purists out there who will
spend big bucks and huge amounts of time to restuff old caps, even the paper
ones, with modern innards so the rig appears original. When someone comes over to
look at my collection, I am more than happy to "lift the hood," but there is
no way I am going to pull it out of the cabinet to show what lives beneath the
chassis.
If you want to be a purist and have a working radio, just save everything you
took out and put it back when you sell it. Otherwise, just get it running
the way you want. I will never ask to see the belly of the beast!

John, W4AWM
