[Hallicrafters] RE:Galaxy GT-550

I know it isn't Hallicrafters, but I have a question nonetheless.

I just aquired a Galaxy GT 550 complete, and am awaiting delivery.
The present owner states that it has the bandswitch synch switch removed, but 
it is included.

Just what does that mean on this particular transceiver????
Has the bandswitch been completely removed, or is this an accessory of some 
type?
