Please warm up those beauties that still go glow in the dark and join me on
Sunday August 31st for the HCI 20 meter Net. The pre-Net will begin at 12:45 PM
EDT, (1645 UTC) and the Net proper at 1:15 PM EDT, (1715 UTC). The frequency
will be 14.293 Mhz usb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and the thunderous
thumping of gigantic dust bunnies hopping by me sneering as they know I am
presently banned from using the Kirby vacuum to suck their hare hairs up with.
But just when they least expect it, the remote control GPS guided dust buster
will suddenly burst forth from the hall closet with more suction than two
teenagers experimenting with a French kiss and race down the hall with blinding
velocity in hot pursuit and suck them up like so much fuzz balls stuck to Scotch
tape. They will be gone as fast as your children when somebody says "Who wants
to help with dishes tonight?".
I wonder what a rabbit carries for good luck anyhow? Certainly not a people's
foot, all they would get from that is a fungus that rots their ears and whiskers
off! Boy, these drugs from the hospital sure do odd things to ones mind. Whew.
Next I will be wondering who the genius was that invented that stupid new
environmentally friendly toilet that uses half the water to flush with. You know
the one, supposed to conserve water, right? If you make a good deposit in the
porcelain throne, you have to power flush it with a two gallon bucket of water
to get rid of what the super duper water saveer toilet did not. Or else flush it
several more times! Which results in a greater usage of water than if they had
left the darn thing alone in the first place! Canada is lucky, they still have
real toilet sup there. Outhouses! (Just kidding northern neighbors, an old joke
from the Birch John Society magazines.) I know, as they are smuggling them into
MI all the time through Customs and selling them at a healthy profit! Well
that's one way for the Queen to get rid of her excess thrones! What's next? Good
one side only recycled toilet paper? I don't even want to know what it is
recycled from! Probably used motor oil filters on Chinese golf carts!
The propagation was great on forty meters today. The best it has been in several
months. I found out that Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin had not been
sucked up by Martians earlier this week as reported on CNN. Great talking to the
Hallicrafters devotees it has not been possible to chat live with for months.
Let us hope it continues on Sunday for twenty meters. So roll those butt cakes
out of bed, pour some black coffee or strong tea down your pipes, warm up the
vintage gear (and I don't mean your bladder!) and join us for some facts, fun,
fantasy and fellowship as we enjoy our vacuum tube toys. I hope to hear thirty
states tomorrow, so be there!
