[Hallicrafters] Sorry Bill

I was working between two different computer systems using different mail client
software and accidentally sent my private message to the list. I apologize to
the list for my blunder and to Bill for others reading it.

For the record: I was 'not' being harsh with Bill. When he asked a question, I
contacted Chuck Dachis in person to get the best possible answer that I could.
Hallicrafters has many 'shades of gray', in both senses of said term. Bill
wanted to debate the reply. The same happened with several others who tried to
assist him.

None of us are perfect, no, not even I! (far from it!) I only have one flaw,
however, "EVERYTHING". Now other than that, I am perfect! But we all endeavor to
give anyone asking a question the most correct material we have to the best of
our knowledge and skill level. Sometimes those receiving the information wish to
debate its validity. Sometimes there is a just reason, other times there is not.
Bill obviously meant no ill, but appeared to be disputing answers to his
questions. This did upset several of those who had responded to him.

Enough said.

Chuck Dachis is not the final word on anything Hallicrafters. Nor has he ever
claimed to be. He is simply a collector with a lot of things to dust, a wealth
of information to share and a willingness to do so. If Chuck says the SX-111 is
a smooth, not a crinkle, wrinkle or otherwise textured surface, he is in all
probability correct. As pointed out in private, Bill can visit the Dachis web
site and view photos, as well as the HCI web site photo gallery area. For anyone
serious, or even mildly curious, about Hallicrafters, the book by Chuck Dachis
"Radios By Hallicrafters" is a very worthwhile investment.

There are two editions of this book. If you already have the first edition, buy
the second one. If you do not have the first edition, then just buy the second
edition. They both contain the same material, but the second edition contains
additional material not found in the first edition.

Sorry for ruffling your feathers Bill. Now back to business -
