David: I also happen to pick up the same type of speaker for my upcoming SX-28 restoration. Your on the right path to restoring the front facia of the speaker. It is painted black so a good can of black enamel an touch up the surface or elect to paint the entire piece over. Flocking can be obtained from just about any antique radio supply place. The one that comes to mind is www.tubesandmore.com. You probably can hire someone to do the flocking for you but why??? Do it yourself and save some $$$. Restoration should be a fun event. Subject: [Hallicrafters] R12t restoration
I was lucky enough to pick up an R12t speaker recently and I'm looking
=
for some restoration advice.
The wooden front is delaminating in places, I plan to glue it back =
together with yellow carpenters glue. Everything is intact and it will
=
look fine when re-glued. What is the best finish to use on this wooden
=
front? It's mostly in good shape but worn off in places.
Also the grill needs re-flocking. Where can I get this done or buy the
=
material to do my self?
Thanks for any advice.
David
