My Simpson 260 VOM (which I use for most voltage measurements) uses a 
1.5 volt battery for the Rx1 scale.  I find it difficult to zero the 
meter and have tried different batteries but it seems the meter needs a 
"strong" 1.5 volts.  I've tried the Duracell alkaline battery and the 
Energizer e2 titanium (also an alkaline battery).  Does anyone have a 
recommendation of a more suitable 1.5 volt battery to use?  Thanks.
