It's no joke. You'll know it when you have one! Due to distributed stress 
when the brass meter housings were originally stamped out some of them have 
multiple splits all around the circumference resulting in strips that curl 
out like the petals of a flower. Early Hallicrafters models such as the SX-25 
and SX-28 are very prone to having this condition along with many Hammarlund 
HQ-129's. A past repair (quickie type) that I saw once was a couple of turns 
of wire to pull the petals back down then twisted and soldered to hold them 
in place. The repair sleeve mentioned on this list earlier sounds like a much 
better approach. This has long been a problem that needed a good fix.
