Recently acquired an SX-24. It has an extra chassis with two tubes
(6SK7s) and what appears to be two IF cans (or IF and RF) mounted to the
back of the case on the left rear corner in the vacant space behind the
tuning cap. They had the courtesy to put screws through the ventilation
slots in the back with pad washers to protect the case.
It also has what appears to be a miniature VR tube mounted in front of
some of the tuning mechanism on a small riser for the socket. I have
yet to find a read on the type of tube but I plan on using all the old
tricks with light and oils, etc.
While the modifications appear extensive, no external cosmetic damage is
visible.
Anyone heard or read of mods done to an SX-24 which might fit this
pattern? I haven't had time to try to check out just what they might
be.
