I asked this question of Duane and he told me to ask here.

Question....??
Has anyone ever seen either of the Hallicrafters consoles (SR-500 and
SR-1000)? The web page has 1955 pictures of the 500 console.

I did work Rundy W3ZA (now SK) at ET3RS at Police HQ in 1959...he was on SSB
and I was on AM. Rundy was using the SR-500. Other than that I don't know
of anyone using the console. My own experience with the SR-1000 was
working Vatican City HV1CN in 1962. A SR-1000 console was delivered to the
Vatican by Bill
Halligan W9AC and Maxwell Meyers W2BIB. Trav Marshall K9EBE had modified
the console to contain the newer SX-115 rather than the SX101 (Trav is later
shown in the famous SR-2000 ads).

I do know that Stu Meyer W2GHK visited HV1CN later (about 1964) and there
was no sign of the SR-1000 console. Stu was President of Hammarlund by then
and running the Hammarlund Dxpedition of the Month. He left them the
HQ170A/HX-50A/HXL-1 gear that had been at Corsica in 1962 and a couple of
Africa spots in 1963. Stu told me this gear disappeared by 1867. During
this time there was a I1 who ran the station at HV1CN. Guess he had some
good gear at home or some money in his pocket (according to Stu)...HI.

73 Dave K4JRB With SR-2000 waiting in the wings...maybe by year end...too
many projects here.
