[Hallicrafters] S-40A schematic HELP !!!

The 5Y3 is electrically identical to the earlier type 80.  Most likely they 
changed from type 80 to 5Y3 during the manufacturing of the S-40A.

Other changes will matter much more than the change from 80 to 5Y3.   I 
hope others on the list can help you with further information.
