Jon, disregarding originality, which of course would require the 6F6G
only, the 6F6 and 6V6 are rather different tubes. The basing is
essentially the same but the 6F6(and variations) is a power pentode and
the 6V6() is a beam power tube. That isn't necessarily a hold point but
there are other differences. I don't know the SX-25 but if it runs more
than 350V B+ on the output stage you're over the rating of the 6V6, and
that much is a rerating only for late-production tubes. The 6F6 will
take up to 375V. Other differences indicate that the curves of the two
aren't extremely close. The 6V6 does use less heater, at 450mA versus
700mA for the 6F6.
(From: RCA RC-30)
The Sams sub book does not show any sub for the 6F6 other than its own
variations. The 6V6 would 'work', more or less, but it is not a
recommended sub.
Good luck,
Fred
