About that "sticking" meter -- Is there a chance that you've got a static
buildup on the face-plate?  Rub a dry finger over the glass.  Does it move
the needle?  If so, and you have no anti-static spray, just wipe a little
soap with a wet towel and clean the glass, leaving a little soap film.  If
it's a static problem, this will "short-circuit" the static to ground and
the problem will clear up.  I've found this problem with a number of meters,
either on or off various radios.
