[Hallicrafters] SX-110 IF Alignment - Xtal Filter Question

I'm trying to align the IF of my SX-110. I can't figure out what the 
instructions in the manual  are trying to say re: the alignment of T1 or 
slug A for the Xtal filter. I've tried putting my sweep generator on and 
aligning the slug, but I'm a bit in the dark as to how this adjustment 
is to be made.  Instructions in the manual are not clear to me. Any 
advice from the group???
