Folks:
An error on the first sheet of the SX28A annotated schematic that I
distributed a few weeks ago has been pointed out by Don K9MUF:
"it looks like R71 (near the HF osc) is 47K. I wonder if it should be 4.7K?"
Don is correct, R71 should be 4.7K/1W rather than the 47K/1W shown. As of
today, 11 Oct 2002, a corrected .pdf file is available on Hallicrafters at
the BAMA site (bama.sbc.edu). Just download sheet one and overwrite your
saved file (it has the same file name). This is for the SX28A only! If you
don't want to deal with the BAMA site, let me know and I'll forward you a
corrected .pdf file.
Another note you might make about the parts on the SX28A: The S-Meter is
listed as a 0 to 0.5 mA movement. The SX28 had a 0-5 mA movement. All
those that responded to my query said their SX28A had a 5 mA movement, not a
0.5 mA. So whether Hallicrafters did eventually change to a 0.5 mA movement
later in production I don't know for sure, but I think that 0.5 mA listing
in the parts list is a typo.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
