Hello All....
I am just starting on a SX-42 restoration. I bought this radio a couple of
years ago at a hamfest and it was "non-working" condition. The cabinet is
pretty rough but the front panel is not too bad. It is faitly dirty but
something to work with.
I found on of the 6V6's to be poor and both 6H6's to have open filaments.
Upon replacing those, it is playing fairly well into a R-42 speaker in my
shop, although the audio output is not as loud as expected. It does sound
decent with fairly good fidelity.
I am looking for a cover for the RF compartment. This one is gone but the
stand-offs are there.
Also. the brake that locks the bandspread dial slips some. Can anyond give
me any advice on this? Is there a "lining" on the shoes that can be
replaced? I'm looking for some experience on that mechanism.
I do have a manual copy but the schematic is pretty compact. It wouls be
nice to find something better for these tired old eyes.....
Thanks for any help in advance.....
