There's one thing more to consider when substituting tubes; cathode
emission.  The 6F6's are being used as an audio power amplifier.  If I
remember vacuum tube theory correctly, the peak output power capability
of an amplifier will be limited by, among other things, cathode emission.
 Cathode emission has a direct correlation to the power consumed by the
tube heater.  Substitute a tube with insufficient cathode emission and
audio distortion will most likely increase as the volume is turned up,
even if the tube is a reasonable match otherwise.
