[Hallicrafters] Chinese look-a-like

I have recently acquired a Chinese Model 222 receiver. This came to me in
its original factory packaging which had not been opened since it was built
in 1952. Complete with spare tubes and beautiful manual in Chinese!! Why I
am addressing this list is that I saw a radio many years ago built by
Hallicrafters for the military probably late in WW2. I was told this was
the finest radio ever built by Hallicrafters and is rare. As I recall it
looked very much like this Chinese radio which is a superb example of
craftsmanship and design but whether it works or not I am not sure as it
needs 230 volts. My dryer is gas and there is no 230v in this house readily
accessible. Will have to buy a transformer.
Does anyone out there know anything about the 222 and its relationship to
Hallicrafters if any.
