Hi, A Very poor condition SX-62 followed me home and I have been working
on it day and night. I did get it working by replaced most of the cap's.
The sensitivity and band calibration was pretty good on ALL bands.
The top chassis of the radio was rusted, I wanted to stop the progress
of the rust so I carefully laid down strips of paper towels with vinegar
on them to remove the rust and with alittle elbow grease the top looks
ok now.
Cleaned the tube sockets with Deoxit, Tested the tubes, was putting the
tubes back into place when I found a 6SJ7 and a 6SK7 left over and two
open 6SG7's sockets. Put two new 6SG7's in where they should be.
Turned the radio on and found everything working well.
BUT the 54 - 108 band not working. Re-cleaned the band switch
with Deoxit and did hear a station from the 54 -108 band now.
But the band calibration is way off! 102.00 is now down on 88.!
The rest of the bands are ok.
Any thoughts ? What could be wrong.
Thanks ever so much de John KØCQW
