FYI: VE4WI Craig Winchar - The winds here in southeastern lower Michigan are
extreme. The snow is literally horizontal. Sustained winds at 35-45 mph and
gusting 60+ mph. Some power failures and many fluctuations. If you do not hear
me at 12:30 PM EST, please take the Net. Tnx!

Please join the Sunday March 10th Hallicrafters Collectors International 20
meter Net. It is my third anniversary since I began handling NCS duties in March
1999. Tomorrow will begin the fourth year. Provided I have a useable
transmitting antenna, that is!

The pre-Net will start at 12:45 PM EST, (1745 UTC). Show up and help me dust the
frequency off and keep it free from those dislocated pull tabs that tend to show
up out of nowhere and litter up the highways and skyways. I think the person who
invented them should be made to pick up all of them scattered across the United
States!

For those who wish to chat early, I will be on the air at 12:30 PM EST, (1730
UTC), conditions permitting. If all else fails, I suppose I could try to load up
the metal down spouts or rain gutters! I remember reading a 1955 ARRL Handbook
that W8BAV gave me full of notes he scribbled here and there. The metal window
screen was mentioned for an antenna, as were the two items named above. Of
course, they loaded them up with good Hallicrafters vacuum tube radios then, not
solid state transistor poppers.

The Net officially commences at 1:15 PM EST, (1815 UTC). The frequency will be
14.293 Mhz usb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and the sound of my antennas
singing in four part harmony! What was that old classic: "Whistle While You Work
DX"? Snow White must have gone bonkers trying to keep those seven dwarfs all
pounding brass in sync!

If any of you would like a copy of the article I wrote on Alan Waller, K3TKJ for
the 2002 Dayton Hamvention nomination, please contact me direct.

Jim Dieguez, WB8DML, could certainly use some help in setting up the forums and
other activities for the HCI group at Dayton this year. If you are willing to
help, contact him at:

wb8dml at aol.com

Remember, our speakers will be Riley Hollingsworth, K4ZDH and Alan Waller,
K3TKJ.

I hope to hear many of you tomorrow on the HCI 20 meter Net. So drag your lunch
into the Ham Shack, warm up the vintage gear, set your alarm clock to wake you
up from your siesta for the Net and be there!
