[Hallicrafters] Restoration of A S-40A

hi all!

My name is Normand Ve2akv from around Montreal city QC. Canada.
I bouth a S-40A Hallicrafters receiver at the last hamfest in Montreal. Radio looking good nothing broke...but i can see in front of the speaker (the grid...hope is the good word..) or if you prefer the speaker protecter in metal in front of the radio was paint in gold! Nice for him ...not for me..hi!
I see a lot of pictures on the web but is difficult to see exacly what is the original color of the grid...white or white off or what ever....
Can you tell me what color is it...
