[Hallicrafters] Re FPM-200 Offered For Sale

High min starting bids never did sell well or inflated high reserves. I
find that most items still go for the average price that they were going for
2 to 3 years ago. What makes it look like the prices are lower is as
someone said said more basket cases are showing up which go for a lot
less. I do expect that the big items are not selling as well because of
all the problems people have had shipping them. Another thing to remember
is that a lot of radios sell after the end of the auction. A high reserve
item is usually always sold after the auction for less that the reserve.
(Just try and buy one) Yes ebay says it is OK as long as you pay them
their commission and we all know everyone does that. The commission on a
$1000 to $2000 radio can be a nice amount and I am sure some people are
making out OK but taking advantage of ebay in the process.

There were very few SX-115 that sold for $3000. Most went for $1000 to
$1500 which a good clean one will still bring because of the rarity. I
actually bought one on ebay at that same time that some where going for big
bucks for $500. I made one bid and for whatever reason it ended up being
the high bid. I obviously brought the average price for an SX-115 down.

SX-100's have also been holding there own but they must be clean and work
good. If they are not they will being about 50% or less of the clean and
working ones.

The low end S-38's have dropped but the early Hallicrafters have been
holding or going up.

All Collins have dropped from what I see with most never hitting the
reserves (M-2 have only been hitting $450 with reserves or $650) but again
getting sold after the end of the auction.

So that's what I see. But in general prices are going lower and I
expect it is because most of us collectors already have rooms fun of this
JUNK with no more place to put it. Remember 30 years from now very few
people will have any use for this stuff and the landfills will be full. So
if you are treating this as a investment I would suggest making it a
relatively short term one. I admit I buy some for investment but most
just to play with.
