I would like to thank KA1DGL, Fred Mooney, the HCI Web Master for his diligence
and technical wonders. He has written much of the HCI web site and has come up
with some truly innovative and highly efficient ways of making things happen. He
is a USAF Lt. Colonel and extremely busy with work, family and other pursuits. I
appreciate all his time and effort on behalf of the web site to make it happen
and to keep it operational.
I also would like to thank VE4WI, Craig Winchar, for his help with the photo
gallery area. Craig is the former HCI NCS and still assists me on Wednesday and
Sunday as a back up and relay person. A great person to work with and very
gifted in the technical areas. His electrical insight is always of a great
benefit to all.
I would also like to thank K6QI, Craig Carter, for his never ending work on the
forsale-swap area on the web site. There is a lot more work involved than it may
appear to the casual observer and Craig puts in many hours and is seldom thanked
for it. He provides a terrific service to all Hallicrafters hobbyists and other
vintage gear devotees who utilize the HCI forsale-swap area free gratis. We all
need to let Craig know he is appreciated!
There is also WA4JQS, Tony Deprato. The HCI Librarian. Remember him? Tony has
quite a stash of original Hallicrafters manuals and is willing to make copies
for any who need them for the cost of reproduction and postage. You can e-mail
Tony or send him a letter to the P.O. Box he maintains. This service is
frequently overlooked because of the great BAMA site run by Ken Grimm, and
several manual sources we are all familiar with. (Al and Pete). But we also need
to let Tony know we appreciate his generosity and partake of what he has to
offer. He is an experienced boat anchor nut (grin) and has a few DXpeditions
under his belt too. A terrific guy. Thanks Tony.
I would also like to thank our benevolent sponsor K3TKJ, Alan Waller. He is the
founder of the entire qth.net/qsl.net system. It does not run on etherial
vapors, so if you can spare a dollar, please make a donation to the cause by
sending it to Alan Waller to keep the hard drives spinning. The contributions he
has made to the Ham Radio hobby are immeasurable because of putting tens of
thousands of Hams in contact who would otherwise never have met. The information
exchange is global and priceless. A wealth of wisdom previously untapped and now
available in second from your keyboard. Hey, without Al, there would never have
been a Frogzilla!
Finally, I would like to thank each of you who have participated in the
Hallicrafters Nets over the years. Your support to myself, and the NCS before
me, is invaluable. It is your sharing of knowledge that makes the HCI Nets the
great resource that they are. The incredible diversity of knowledge about a
myriad of subjects has given us a data pool comparable to any anywhere, bar
none. Your participation and continued support keeps me coming back to wear out
my official NCS chaircushion. Is there such a blight as NCS butt?
A special thanks to all who have contributed to these lists over the years too.
While some come and go, most remain long time subscribers. The lists take on a
sort of family persona, as it is one large extended family of boat anchors
devotees sharing with each other. Hence the list takes on a distinct personality
and a sort of life of its own. This is what makes it work. Without this influx
of diverse opinions and multitude of experiences it would soon fall silent due
to stagnation. Which soon takes on a distinctive smell we can all do without!
Which is why I sometimes stir the pot a little to prevent that green corrosion
from forming around the edge of the chassis.
Keep up the terrific work, all of you! Thanks for making it happen for
Hallicrafters.
