Most tr switches were made for fast cw breakin. If you are old enough
to remember useing one we wanted a little feed through to monitor our
sending. They only blocked enough signal to protect the receiver
front end in tube receivers from being toasted. And For them to work
they must have a carrier eithe cw or am. It's all explained in the old 
hand books. TR switches give fast and silent switching as compared to
a dow key type relay. I use a johnson.

Please give Duane a break! Without the 40 meter net I would not be able
to check into the hallicrafters nets. He does a lot of work on his own
to keep the hallicrafters collectors group going. 
We collect boat anchors because we love them.
