[Hallicrafters] Paint Question / Problem

Just to add to the thread, I purchased paint from Mike Shelton as well as
Lynn, his predecessor for a HT-30 and SX-99 restoration. For some reason the
paint from Lynn was too dark and not the charcoal metallic. Lynn couldn't
explain it but offered a refund or replacement.

For the HT-30, the paint from Mike was perfect in every way. Mike patiently
explained to me how he sprayed in mist coats and applied a heat lamp between
coats. While I didn't use a heat lamp, the finish came out to be a perfect
match to my SX-100. I had plenty of time and paint for multiple coats to fix
the blemishes that showed up because I had not done a good prep job. With
Mike's help I now have a nearly perfect HT-30.

That was nearly a year ago and even then Mike was up to his "you know what"
in alligators yet he was extremely kind and informative. Add additional
stress and with a full time job in addition to his "hobby" business, it may
take time to resolve what you experienced. Mike is a first class guy but
like all of us has only so much bandwidth. Give him time...
