Hello all,
After two SX-42 restorations and one a total rebuild the resistors in the IF section and around the band switch are a must for a upgrade..
I have two working SX-42's and my mate has one as well.
We found that the low value resistors were all way out of spec on all of the SX-42's seen to date..
Replacement of these made a great difference to the sensitivity of the receiver with the greatest change to the upper bands..
To get to some of these removal of the side panel of the radio was the best way to get at the band switch..
It only requires a few screws and you can work on the area with relative ease..
All the best with the SX-42 a great band curser..
Regards
Ray
