I need two people who are willing to take the Wednesday evening Global Glow
roundtable and Saturday HCI 40 meter nets. Thus far I have several willing to be
a back up or serve as a relay, but not as the actual NCS.
You do not have to have a super station to do this. It does not "have" to be
all vintage hallicrafters or mix/match of vintage gear. Great if it is, but not
mandatory!
You do not have to have an extensive antenna system or be able to run the 'legal
limit'. Yes, a beam is very helpful, but I started with just the trusty Hustler
6BTV vertical. If you have from 200-400 watts, that is terrific.
It helps if the NCS is somewhere near the middle of the country for twenty
meter bounce. But several relay stations can make up for what the NCS does not
hear.
All in all, what is mandatory is an interest in doing the NCS duties and a
willingness to show up and get it done. Nowadays almost nobody wants to make a
commitment to anyone or to anything. This makes it very difficult for
parent/teacher groups at schools, the Boy/Girl Scouts, Church groups, service
clubs and etc. I realize that people are busy and that this is a hobby, not an
avocation.
If any of you are willing to help, please contact me direct. We can work out
some arrangement that is mutually satisfactory. Thanks.
