[Hallicrafters] Shipping Vibration Problems

I thought I would share this with all of you, as some may not be aware that this
can, and does, happen quite often.

When an item is transported by air, a peculiar vibration not found in other
forms of transit occurs. This sometimes will cause screws to literally back out
on their own and fall out. This is evidenced by the threads showing no signs of
damage, such as having been stripped or pulled loose by force.

This can result in what I call 'concussion' damage. That is, Because the insides
are loose from the securing screws having come loose, or fallen out completely,
when the shipping carton is set down, the loose internal parts can shift around.
Damage frequently results from being banged around as the shipping carton is
turned on its side, set down hard and so forth.

It is hard to prove to UPS, USM or FedX that damage occured because of this air
transit vibration, but it can be done. I know, as I have had several claims paid
when this was the problem. The outer shipping carton shows no damage or abuse,
the item was well packed and there is no evidence of any cosmetic damage to the
contents.

Something to keep in mind.
