[Hallicrafters] Relay Cleaning Question to all

If you just happen to have a burnishing tool, then use
it between the contacts. A burnishing tool is a very
very fine file that is also very thin that is made for
this purpose.

If you don't have a burnishing tool (not too many
people do these days!), then use strips of rough paper
to clean the contacts. You will have to hold the
relay in the closed positon to get the normally-open
contacts.

Go "back and forth" several times with dry paper.
Then, use a little contact cleaner and do it again.
Finally, use dry paper again. This should take care
of any of the "crud" on the contacts.

Also, you might have to slightly adjust some of the
contacts by "bending" them. Over the years they get
out of position.

That stinky little tr relay, which I have tuned to
mechanical perfection and de-oxed the whiz out of,
still acts like it has some crud on it.
