Hello Again,

OK, here is the poop... I've downloaded a number of things that may be of
interest to us, and found one that will be of interest to us Hallicrafters
fans!

Here is what I have available...
Radio At War, 1944 History of the radio use (sort of history anyway) during
WWII
Radio & Television, 1940 Radio industry in the late 30's to 1940. Job
opportunities
Independent Radio Station, 1951 Look at the operations of an independent
broadcast station
Magic in the Air (1 & 2) 1941 & 1955 Same movie twice, updated in the
later. How & what TV is or could be (snicker)

This one below will make Hallicrafter fans dance...

Voice of Victory (1 & 2) 1944 History of the SCR-299, HT4 (BC-610) and it's
manufacture! This one was put out by the Hallicrafters Company. The two
part film shows the construction of the BC-610 from start to finish,
including mounting in the SCR-299 truck. Mentions Hams all over the place
and includes a fellow calling CQ from W9WZE with an HT-4 and SX-28. (Hear
that Duane!)

The other flicks are sort of Ho Hum, and I almost didn't download the Voice
of Victory pair. In fact I started them both and went to bed! I about fell
out of my chair when I fired the first of the two up this morning to see
what I had. Most of these run about ten or fifteen minutes. The Voice of
Victory runs a total of about 28 minutes .

I have included some of the previous posts about this, my original offer,
etc... This thread started on the Hammarlund reflector. I'm cross posting
this to the Hallicrafters reflector also so they can have a shot at the
Voice of Victory set.

Let me remind you to please read the previous posts for my offer and system
requirements. Also, I think I can record to VHS Video Cassette with this
new video card I put in my new computer. If that is indeed the case, I'll
post that so most anybody can watch these.

Please don't forget. I'm not a commercial video outfit. I can't do a ton of
these things. If some of you have a CD burner, but a dial up connection,
please get the disk from me and help with the copying if I yell HELP!

On each CD I'm including a shareware file that allows playback of these
MPEG-2 format files on your computer.

73 all...

PREVIOUS POSTS FROM HAMMARLUND REFLECTOR, PLEASE READ

Hello All,
First, I looked at the site listed below, and there are quite a number of
things that could be of interest to the afflicted, us BA folks.
Now, here is my offer for my good deed for the year... I have a CD burner,
and a cable modem connection. I can copy a few of these onto a few cd's and
send them to you for the cost of the cd(s) and postage. I read the
information on the site, and they are more than willing for these to be
passed around as long as you don't sell them. Besides, as they say, most if
not all of these films are in the public domain now anyway...
Now, I don't have a commercial CD burner. If requests get to thick, I'll
have to '"just say no". Most of these aren't keepers anyway, mail them off
to others that want to see them, or get a CD burner and copy it.
I think the CD's would go for a buck each, and quite a number could be
mailed for the one pound Priority Rate of $3.50.
System requirements, for Windows:
Pentium 400 MHz or faster
Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, or 2000
Windows Media Player 6.4 or later
Other operating systems require a similarly fast computer. However, at
present we know of no Macintosh players that will
play MPEG-2 files (only MPEG-4). Please contact us if you have information
about Macintosh-compatible players or
decoder boards.

So, if you have a pretty quick machine, but a dial up connection, and you
don't have six days to download some of these... Here is your chance!

BTW: I'll only supply the MPEG-2 (DVD) files. If you need one, I can point
you to the player. MPEG-2 won't play in most internet available software...

OK Folks...
The response hasn't been too awful, and I have had an offer for help from
Kurt (see below). Some people have asked which of the films I'm going to
download, well, I guess I will leave that up to the folks that want some.
You fellows that have already indicated that you would like to watch the
films, send me your wish list! The URL is
http://www.archive.org/movies/index.html
The URL for the player is
http://elecard.com/download/
Now, at the cost of repeating myself, please remember that you MUST have a
pretty fast machine with PLENTY of ram to run these...
Kurt, I used the player at the elecard site, and thanks for the offer! Lets
keep each other in the loop.
73 Folks. send me your wants!
