Hi All,
It has been suggested to me, that I operate a HCI special event station during
the June 2002 ARRL Kid's Day event. The W9WZE club call for "Halligan's
Hallicrafters" would be used and a special HCI Kid's Day QSL would be sent to
all who checked in for a SASE.
Is there enough interest on the part of Hallicrafters owners, as well as all
other vintage gear, to warrant me doing this? I will handle either 20 or 40
meters, and perhaps some others could handle ten and eighty meters? Please
direct your comments to me personally, that is, off list.
Would any of you volunteer to help design a QSL card for the HCI Kid's Day event
2002?
As I look over the mean age of Amateur Radio operators in the USA, it does not
require my minor in math from the University of Michigan to calculate that our
future is definitely in peril. Our 'youth' are those between forty and
fifty-five years of age. It is absolutely mandatory that each of us diligently
try to interest and recruit youngsters to sustain this wonderful hobby for many
many decades to come. For if we do not, it will soon exist only in the
encyclopedias that sit on bookshelves in homes collecting particles of dust.
Actually, there may not be any written word printed on paper books to collect
thos particles of antiquity, just a plastic CD case. What, I wonder, will the
book worms eat then?
Do we do a Hallicrafters Collectors International Kid's Day in conjunction with
the ARRL event in June?
