[Hallicrafters] HT-32 alignment

Hi agn Bob,
I guess one question would be, "did this just happen suddenly, or has
it been this way?" If it's been this way, or happened gradually, then:
I'd do an alignment on it, or at least touch up the interstage ckts
that are in the cans between the final cage & the xtals. I think the
trimmers are what you see from above, the coils slugs are adj from
underneath. So you can do a quicky from the top. Abt 3 yrs ago when I had
been into mine, I got 80-100w out across all bands, incl 10m. But recently
it dropped to 75-80 on many. Don't really know why, I did touch up those
with some help, didn't do a whole job. I swapped 12BY7's, with no lasting
difference, maybe the finals are getting old, I think they're Chinese, but
were very good & strong when I put them in. I had compared several pairs.
Thinking back, I believe the injection level at the various mixers
makes a big difference in signal gain. I think I had the bottom off of the
SB gen., worrying abt stuff in there, but don't remember if I found a
problem.
I had an HT-32A that came to me somewhat disassembled, and a previous
hand had tweaked ALL the adjustments in the thing. Talk about a bear. I
had to use the Autek RF analyzer on tuned ckts to get them in the proper
range b4 I could get any signal thru to follow the normal procedure. The
mixers had to be very close in order to get the proper freq. out.
