Hello
The following was heard this morning on my delightfully 'retro' 5R10
receiver. For those not in the know, this is a small 5 tube AC/DC "all
band" set tuning 530kc to 30mc made in Nov 1953. Black steel case, large
chrome escutchion around the glass slide rule dial window, and of course the
mandatory "place names" such as USSR, Java, Greenwich, Iceland and many more
printed on the dial.
Having the "selectivity of a drunk in a singles bar at closing time", it
naturally hears some hetrodynes, images, and adjacent stations. But hey,
isn't that what we put up with in our early days of SWLing? We couldn't all
afford "Super Pros". And of course, we get to play the "station guessing
game" 8^). Let's see, I 'think' HCJB was about here on the dial last night,
oops, that isn't it.
Here're the loggings.
NOTE: Times are in GMT and frequency in KC as this radio doesn't understand
UTC and kHz!
1620 GMT, 25 Meters, Radio Netherlands "Newsline", s/off. Didn't have time
to determine the actual frequency and relay point for this one.
1626 GMT, 12015kc, RFI (Radio France Int), Moyabi Gabon, News, "Online",
Station ID.
1638 GMT, 11945kc, Radio Free Asia, Lots of nice Asian Mx, no talking.
