Greg,
mine has been devastated by previous owners. That is bringing me in great
trouble as I don't know how the stuff was before the tampering with.
My BFO was modified to use a 6SN7. I don't know if it was a known mod, but I
successfully reversed it to 6j5 just using the BAMA diagrams (read the story
on my restoration log at my site..).
I am now facing modified IF xfrms and modified xtal phasing circuitry ...
don't know if I will ever success with them.
The sx-28 is a beast. Definitively!
ciao

Oggetto: [Hallicrafters] SX-28 Mods

I am refurbishing an SX-28 that has seen better days. It would seem to have
been attacked by not only mice but also by some previous
owner. I read in the QTH archives of some mods that were performed on these
beasts (BFO and Product detector in particular)
Is there some definitive listing of these mods somewhere so that I can
reverse engineer them?
Regards
Greg in South Australia
