Barrie,

Sorry to hear about your experience. I have pretty much given up on
eBAY and went back to buying "the old fashioned way." That is, a phone call
or personal visit and the magazine classifieds. There is too much "shuck and
jive" and ambiguity anymore in the eBAY descriptions. Recently I was stung
pretty good on some tubes ("Tubes are sold AS-IS however they tested good on
a tube tester although I am not sure I know how to operate the tube tester."
H-m-m-m-m. Looks like I was the stupid one here for bidding. Oh well, back
to phone calls and dealing with people who can offer inflection in their
voices on the phone or eye contact for me to determine if they are telling
the truth.
Anyway, getting to you SX-62, if you can remove the condensors I have
had good luck with soaking them in tomato juice. No kidding. It's not
corrosive, does not deteriorate all the lubrication (although you will want
to relubricate, I am sure, anyway). It takes away all that "dusty grime" and
leaves 'em shining like new.
I suppose a lot has to do with the environment the SX-62 was subjected
to...but most of the film on these things is purely heat-baked dust, air
pollution and nicotine.
     Good luck.
