I have both the SX-117/HT-44 and the SR-150. They are excellent vintage
radios and a pleasure to fire up and use.
The SX-117 / HT-44 is a much better receiver / transmitter than the
SR-150.
The SX-117 is triple conversion with a low 50.75 kHz 3rd IF - which in
turn allows for sharp LC - the SX-117 has a very sharp notch filter and
selectable selectivity of 0.5, 2.5 or 5 kHz. The SX-117 also allows use
of the LF converter option.
The HT-44, when aligned properly, has very good sounding transmit audio
due to it's 1650 kHz phasing-type SSB generation.
The SR-150 is dual conversion and has 1650 kHz crystal lattice
filter-type SSB generation. One plus for the SR-150 is the rather
advanced, for it's time, RIT.
Both the SR-150 and the HT-44 use the same AC or DC power supplies. The
HT-44 has SSB, CW and AM , rated for 200 W input using 2 6DQ5's. The
SR-150 only has SSB and CW, rated for 150 W input using 2 12DQ6B's.
