First, gentleman, Bruce is not an attorney. Nor am I. Unless one truly
understands the issues, and the laws that pertain to them, it is unwise to give
advice when possible penalties for infringement apply. After all, it is you who
will be penalized, not the giver of advice, well intentioned or not.

Second, the laws are clear if you take the time to study them. I do have
copyrightes, myself. I also have a legally registered name, but it is not a
'trademark'.

You may not 'reproduce' any copyrighted material for any form of distribution
without first obtaining written permission of the copyright holder. This
includes giving it away.

If it is copyrighted, you need permission to do anything other than make a copy
for your own private/personal use in your own home etc. Elapsed time does not
necessarily void a copyright or a trademark

The best advice is to not do it, unless you first get written permission from
the holder of the copyright.

You're sort of in a gray area here. I doubt most copyright holders
would care if you gave one to a friend as a gift. Unless you are
actually advertising copies for sale, how would anyone prove that you
are making them for profit!
