[Hallicrafters] Ad Reprints?

Bruce,
Your correct about copyright, if I remember correctly the hallicrafters web
site had some problems with the copyright holder just a short while ago.
However, most desktop flatbed scanners will do 600dpi easily, inkjet
printers need 200dpi to get the most of thier quality so a 3x enlargement
would be pretty simple, you'd be limited by the quality of the original not
the scan. A photographic enlargement would be expensive, unnecesary, and
likely would be no better than the scanned one, in fact I'd be surprised if
a photographer didnt go the scanner route himself nowadays. If you happen to
know someone with one of the large carriage inkjet printers (like me 8^))
you can get prints up to 13"x19" for the cost of paper and ink. All this
stuff has come a long way in the last few years.
Larry

I don't know if they ever put out ads for framing purposes, if they did
I would suspect they were for store use and you would have to find an
old radio store!
Making copies is a big project, and may be in violation of copyright
laws! If I were going to make a copt suitable for framing, I would take
the original to a GOOD photographer and have a color copy negative
made. From this negative you can make copies of any size you want.
Copies for personal use are OK, selling copies may be against the law!
BTW, I recommend photographic reproduction because you will never be
able to get the resolution in a home type scanner to make a really large
ad!
