The limiting factor here again is the receiver. It's a good ham band
receiver but you only have a 2 MHz spread on 10 M and  4 MHz spread in
the converter position. Depending on what frequency ranges you wanted to
cover, would determine how many crystals, coils, types of switches for
switching coils, crystals, etc.  to control the RF section, mixer, and
oscillator sections of the converter. An alternative would be to build a
tunable converter with an IF output to the receiver of your choosing. You
still need to work out RF, mixer, and oscillator component issues. Set
the receiver to a certain frequency and then use the tunable converter to
locate your stations. A less hair-pulling approach would be just go find
an inexpensive general coverage short wave receiver.
