Please print your response to the group. Thank you.

Glen has a HT-32B. It has been operating fine for many years. The power
transformer failed and was replaced with a Peter Dowl unit. The tx continued to
operate fine, in fact, even better than before.

Two weeks ago Glen powered it up after not using it for several months and tuned
it as usual. He noticed he had a carrier that was not present before and his
power output was somewhat diminished. He was able to null out the carrier. None
of this had previously happened in over a decade of operation. Nothing had been
changed in the tx since its last use.

He checked all the tubes, found several that were weaker than they should have
been, but replacing them did not correct the problem. The balanced modulator
tube he was not able to exchange, as he did not have one. It tested good, but
not even a good mutual conductance test unit will detect certain aspects of this
tubes functioning. Hence, testing 'good' is not trustworthy.

Any thoughts as to what may have occurred while he was going through the normal
tune up procedure?

Thanks on behalf of Glen WA3GPE
