While there is some trading/selling that goes on here, there are
probably more productive places to look. Remember that the
Hallicrafters list is primarily comprised of Hallifans...(not yet in
Webster's, but probably will be some day...meaning "those folks who
admire and generally keep their Hallicrafters gear"). You might be
lucky and find someone who has a couple of HT-18s and is willing to part
with one.
However, if I were looking for an HT-18, I would go to the Usenet
Newsgroups such as rec.radio.swap and possibly
rec.radio.amateur.boatanchors to look for one. Then there are the Ham
Radio "classifieds" web sites such as
http://www.kacweb.com/cgibin/viewradioad.cgi , http://swap.qth.com/ ,
http://antiqueradio.org/ads.htm ,
http://www.hamrad.com/cgi-bin/trader.cgi and possibly some others. One
of the best, BARC, is temporarily off the net. Finally, you might keep
an eye on the big auction sight. I've seen them there occasionally.
I wish you good luck in acquiring an HT-18. They are neat little
VFOs/exciters. Like many others who own them, I will keep mine until
I'm gone. Whoever handles my estate may sell it, but I don't plan to!!!
It's a keeper.
73 and happy new year,
